In text elements, we briefly touched on adding images to a text element. In this section, we will go through best practices, how to add an Image only element and other image options.

Best practice for website imagery

We have a very helpful pdf called Image Guidelines, you can download this on Useful Documents.

It covers the different types of images you can add, aspect ratio and size. You want to optimise your images before adding them onto the website. They are the biggest culprit for a slow load time.

You have the option of adding a alternative name and description. We highly recommend you do this to help optimise your accessibility.

If you are curious about accessibility, feel free to chat to your Account Manager.

Image only element

In the Typical page content, you will have the option of adding a Image only element. In this element, you can upload one or more images to your web page. You can do this by following these steps:

  1. Go to the page you wish to add an image (or two).
  2. Click on the Add new element button.
  3. Select Image only
  4. If you would like a header, please add your title. Otherwise, you can leave this blank.
  5. Under Image, click add image.
  6. This will open your file selector.
  7. Go to where you have saved your image/s.
  8. If you are select one image, you can click on the name.
  9. Otherwise to the left of the image there will be a checkbox. You can go and select all the images you wish to upload through this checkbox.
  10. Once you are ready to upload to your page, click the upload button (page and upwards arrow).
  11. In the images dropdown menu, you can give it an alternative title (something download friendly) and description (briefly describe the image).
  12. After the images, under Position, you will have the option to align these images, above centre, above right or above left.
  13. Hit Save and Close

These basic image elements work really well for a small number of images, but when you have multiple images you may want to consider a Image Carousel.
