How to add a Catalog
The one plugin to be aware of is ‘Catalog’. This is the plugin that allows you to display any record base information, such as news articles, events, employees, and documents.
Not all the options will be available from the offset as they need configuring by a developer. Once this is completed, you are then able to set up a catalog on a page. Let’s take ‘Documents’ as an example.
- In the modules menu click the 'Page' module link located in the 'Content' section.
- In the site tree click the title of the page you wish to add a catalog.
- The page content editing interface should now be displayed in the content editing window.
- Go to the location where you would like to add this content. Click to add a new element.
- Under ‘Plugin’, select Catalog. This will open up a new content edit page.
- Add a title within ‘Header’. If you wish to hide this, in the ‘Heading 2’ menu, select ‘hidden’.
- Then to plugin options. Under ‘general’, you will see the following questions:
- What would you like to display?
Select Documents. This will come up with a warning ‘ Refresh Required’, you can click OK.
How would you like to display it?
There are many options, which you can experiment with, but in this case, select ‘List’. The same box will appear, ‘Refresh Required’, click OK.
Variant
Select ‘Default’.
How would you like to find it?
You have several options (please see definitions below). However, for this example, click Custom List of Documents. The Refresh Required will appear, click OK.
You can either, ‘Add a new document’. This will allow you to select specific single documents. Alternatively, below ‘Folder’, you can select the folder which contains all the documents you wish to display.
Under ‘Records’ to the left, you will see a folder icon. This is where you can find the documents you wish to show in this catalog. Opening up the folder you will find the site tree. Head to your Resources folder, and to the fodler you are storing the Record you wish to show. Select the Record you wish to show by clicking the + button.
Once you have all the Records in your Catalog, click Save and Close.
Head to preview to ensure it's displaying correctly.
